The Ras Beirut Elementary School’s last faculty meeting focused on our upcoming portfolio sharing session. The school has been making the transition from paper portfolios to electronic portfolios using the application Seesaw. The first half of the meeting was a reflection time on the school’s portfolio journey over the years. Teachers noticed the changes that the portfolio has gone through over time. We also brainstormed questions we have about where the portfolios will go next. Teachers expressed their wonderings about the e-portfolio. Time was spent examining the major differences and similarities between the traditional paper portfolio and the e-portfolio. We concluded that the success of the portfolio is not determined by how it is shared but if it shows the child’s growth and learning process overtime. The meeting concluded with a sharing session from Johannes, Ryan, Hannah, Fatmeh, and Faten. These teachers shared successes with the e-portfolio and answered many key questions that the faculty has. The meeting was an important time to reflect and learn more about how we use this wonderful assessment tool with the portfolio session quickly approaching.
